OVERVIEW

Join me for an after-work paddle on the “Lower James” through Richmond. I’ll be working closer to Richmond than Cville, so the idea is for y’all to meet me in Richmond at 5, and launch before 6 PM.
There’s only about 2 hours of daylight – so keeping carnage to a non-existent minimum is desirable, so I’ll be waitilisting everyone till I screen your skills.

Two critical things need to happen for this trip to go at an intermediate skill level:
1 – The river must not blow up, and ideally get to about 5 ft or below by the time we launch – you can track that here: http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/Gauge2/detail/id/600/
2 – I need one driver, ideally with the ability to tote several boats and bodies to ease our shuttle – if that doesn’t happen, it’ll just extend our shuttle time.

2.5 – It would be awesome if said driver could pickup and transport the boats and gear with them from Cville (as slipping out of work early with multiple boats on my vehicle will get me dirty looks from management – which i’m trying to avoid)

TIMES:
I put 4 PM as the departure time from echols – be prompt – this is when y’all need to be rolling towards Richmond from Cville by to meet me.

Trip may be canceled, or skill level upgraded if the river rises.

I could be flexible on the day – either Wed 4/18 or Thurs 4/19, indicate in the Q/A if you have a preference – but I’m defaulting to Wed 4/18.

Anyone thinking of getting their first descent on the Lower NRG the following weekend, or looking to do cool stuff at cheat fest should strive to get on this trip!

REQUIRED SKILLZ:
You must have been on multiple river trips, and comfortable paddling in Class II-III rapids.
A Flatwater roll is required, a combat roll is highly desirable. (in lieu of a combat roll, you could also bring supreme boat control and river reading skills, and a good brace such that you don’t have to roll!)

YOU BRING:
Bathing Suit, Towel, river is about 70F so whatever layers you think you need, ID incase we stop at legends brewery.

CLUB PROVIDES:
Ride in a vehicle, Boats & Gear
