Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Secret Antarctic Bunker
yawgoons,
So after some popular inquiry, we gon’ do some sort of bike-handling session that will help all yer riding in general.
This whole shindig is informal, so we can do whatever people might be interested in. But I was thinking for the first one we’d probably just goof around in the grassy area next to the graveyard by echols, and if people are game send things on up to Ohill for some trail practice.
I was hoping to source out some planks and logs and whatnot to work on hopping and balance stuff, etc., but there’s also plenty of curbs and stairs and hills around. If anyone has materials or wants to help out (I’m still learning all this nonsense myself, so yeah), please let me know.
things we could do:
– gear ratios and what they’re good for
– manuals & wheelies
– bunny hops and the elusive j hop
– slow drops, fast drops
– plus anything else
bring water, snacks, bike gear, jokes
You should be comfortable with bikes and willing to go ham. I’d expect that we’ll have a pretty big range of skill levels around.
Club bikes are in disarray & limited supply.. do your homework to see if you can get one. But you could theoretically learn a lot of this stuff with a more regular bike, like a commuter or hybrid (you can even hop a road bike.. it’s definitely not the way to learn though), so if you’re willing, bring it over.
if you want to practice beforehand:
So, Wednesday @4:00, echols wall. Should be free of rain by then, but who knows.
