Rivanna River
I’d like us to go out on the low, slow Rivanna this Thursday, to give folks an opportunity to be on moving water for the first time. It is class II or so, with a couple of fun spots. I always enjoy to experience a different cross-section of southern Albemarle than from I-64, one that is frequently shared with mallards, beavers, and turtles.
This trip is recommended for people who are fluent in the t-rescue, have probably learned to eskimo roll, but whom have not necessarily mastered the eskimo roll.
This specifics of the trip are contingent upon a couple of things. First, I have to find another officer to cover my usual Thursday 5:15 gear room time. Second, the Rivanna is already fairly low. If it is too low by Thursday afternoon, we will probably go to Walnut Creek Park and practice paddling and eskimo rolling instead. The trip size may expand based on the drivers situation.
