Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Walnut Creek Park
**Please note the description change below. I cut and pasted the original description from one of my previous adventures without bothering to edit it. This adventure is not for ‘this Sunday’, but rather for the following Saturday. Sorry for the confusion.**
This class is designed to teach you the very basics of white water kayaking, to prepare you for future river trips. We’ll spend 2 hours on Saturday, 10/2, on the lake at Walnut Creek Park (~10 miles south of town) learning such skills as the wet exit, how to paddle a white water kayak, T-rescues, and the Eskimo roll. Since I will need at least 1 driver for this, I will put everyone on the waitlist and move the first driver to sign up, and then the first 4 or 5 who signed up, onto the trip list.
The plan is for you to meet at Echols at 2:00 (please be prompt!), get out to the park by 2:30, and be off the water by 5:00. I will meet you at the park and will coordinate with the drivers to pick the rest of the crew up at Echols.
The Club provides: Boats, spray skirts, pfds, paddles, helmets, and nose plugs.
You should bring: swimwear, towel, change of clothes, water, snacks, and sunscreen.
