This class is designed to teach you the very basics of white water kayaking, to prepare you for future river trips. We’ll spend 2 hours on the lake at Walnut Creek Park (~10 miles south of town) learning such skills as the wet exit, how to paddle a white water kayak, T-rescues, and the Eskimo roll. Since I will need at least 1 driver for this, I will put everyone on the waitlist and move the first driver to sign up, and then the first 4 or 5 who signed up, onto the trip list.

The plan is for you to meet at Echols at 12:30 (please be prompt!), get out to the park by 1:00, and be off the water at around 3:30. I will meet you at the park and will coordinate with the drivers to pick the rest of the crew up at Echols.

**There is a fee to get into the park. It cost’s $3 for Albemarle County residence and $4.50 for everyone else. I entered $5 for the adventure fee to reflect this. You pay at the entrance gate.

The Club provides: Boats, spray skirts, pfds, paddles, helmets, and nose plugs.

You should bring: swimwear, towel, change of clothes, water, snacks, and sunscreen.
