OVERVIEW

If you are still around on the 12th and want to learn the basics of white water kayaking, or are an experienced kayaker and want to work on your paddling skills and/or roll technique, come join me at Walnut Creek Park.

This class is designed to teach you the basics of white water kayaking: information about white water (ww) kayaks and associated gear, how to paddle and maneuver a ww kayak, wet exiting, T-rescues, and recovery techniques. You will also have the opportunity to learn the Eskimo roll. This trip goes out “rain or shine”. It will only be canceled by a lightning storm.

I will be meeting you at the park; the plan is for you to meet at Echols and then carpool to the park. As such, I will need drivers for this. Everyone gets waitlisted upon joining and then I will move the first driver to sign up onto the trip list followed by the first 4 to sign up. If more drivers sign up I will be able to expand the number of attendees.

The water might still be a tad chilly but very tolerable, and the air temp to be warm. See below for what to wear in the water and stay tuned for weather updates and clothing suggestions as the adventure date draws near…

The Club provides: Kayaks, pfds, sprayskirts, helmets/noseplugs, paddles, kayak transport

You should bring: swimwear (bathing suit, non-cotton layers, river shoes/booties/aqua socks though footwear is not necessary), towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, water, snacks.
