Intro to White Water Kayaking – Learning the Basics on a Lake

OVERVIEW

This class is designed to teach you the very basics of white water kayaking to prepare you for future river trips. We will spend a couple of hours next Wednesday (9/10) on the lake at Walnut Creek Park (~10 miles south of town) learning such skills as the wet exit, how to paddle a white water kayak, T-rescues, and the Eskimo roll. I will meet you at Echols (click on the link below for directions) but will not return with the group, so will need at least 1 driver for this. You will automatically get put onto the waitlist when you sign up. The first driver to sign up will get moved to the trip list, first come-first served after that. I can expand the trip if mutliple drivers sign up.

The plan is to meet at Echols at 5:00 (please be prompt!), get out to the park by 5:30, and be off the water at around 8:00.

The Club provides: Boats, spray skirts, pfds, paddles, helmets, nose plugs.

You should bring: swimwear, towel, change of clothes, water, snacks.
