Intro to White Water Kayaking – Learning the Basics on a Lake (Group 2)

OVERVIEW

As promised to those on the waitlist for my other intro trip, I am setting up a second group. For this to work, I will need at least 2 drivers. Everyone who joins this trip will automatically get put onto the waitlist. I will put the first 2 people who signed up on the first trip’s waitlist, and can drive, onto this trip list, then will put the first 4 folks (regardless of driving capabilities) on the first trip’s waitlist onto this trip. So if you are on the other trip’s waitlist, I encourage you to sign up on both trips to increase your chances of getting onto one. If you do not get on either, I will be doing one next week in the late afternoon. I might do more this semester if the weather/water stays warm, and will run pool roll classes in the winter.

You should bring: swimwear, change of clothes, towel, water, snacks

Also, I hope you all realize that as a club member you are allowed to sign out one boat/set of gear for yourself and one for a non-member friend any time you like, as long as it is not needed for a club trip. The club has 10 boats, plenty of associated gear, including wet suits, and foam roof racks and straps to transport them. There are numerous lakes near Charlottesville to go and practice basic skills, and a few local rivers for the real thing. I house some of the gear 11 miles SE of town, and Quintin B. houses some in town. You can contact the officers at outdoors-officers@virginia.edu to inquire about borrowing gear.
