Intro to Whitewater Kayaking: Learning the Basics on a Lake

OVERVIEW

Come hang out with me at Walnut Creek Park and learn to whitewater kayak!

In this intro-level trip we will cover the basics of wet-exits, T-rescues, and navigating a whitewater kayak. This is the perfect trip if you are interested in developing the skills you’ll need to safely paddle whitewater rivers in the coming seasons. For those who have already taken a similar into-level course and are familiar with the above can come learn some more advanced skills, (AKA edging, rolling, etc..) or even just paddle around and hang out on the lake.

In order for this trip to go out, I’ll need one driver to sign up who can drive everyone to the park and back (you won’t need to transport any kayaks). I’ll be teaching another clinic afterwards so I’ll be meeting everyone at the park with boats and gear.

SCHEDULE:
Meet at Echols dorm at 12:30, arrive at the park at 1:00, kayak for around 2 hours, head back to town around 3:00

CLUB PROVIDES: Boats, gear, paddles as needed. Gas money for driver

YOU PROVIDE: Snacks, water, clothes to get wet, change of clothes for after
