Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
O-Hill
This hike up to O-Hill provides an opportunity to learn some basic outdoor survival skills that can help one to live more comfortably in nature without modern camping equipment. We will hike up into the woods and build a survival shelter from forest debris that can keep one warm and dry, learn some nature observation skills that make it easier to see and track wildlife and, if there’s time, touch on how to start a campfire without a match and in wet conditions.
All of these skills are ones that I taught at Cornell University Outdoor Education and have learned from professional instructors in wilderness survival and can make one’s time outdoors to be a more fun experience.
