Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Jones Run / Doyle River
Folks,
This summer has been great–fun times, memorable sunsets, etc. But to quote Joe Biden, “Nothing will top the summer of ’87.”
Well here’s the deal: we’re going to forget about Joe for a while and have a blast hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Sunday has a fantastic forecast, a high of 77, and after hiking to work up a nice lather of sweat, we’ll simply hop off the trail and into a river to cool off. Hard to beat that!
We will leave Sunday morning at 8am to get a head start on the day. We will drive north by northwest to reach Jones Run and Doyle River, a beautiful circuit hike off of Skyline Drive. After a carefree stretch of the limbs, we shall set off down the trail on a quest for a good time, returning to Charlottesville no later than 4pm the same day.
What YOU need:
-2 L water
-lunch and/or snacks
-comfortable shoes fit for hiking
-rain gear (ya never know)
-water suit of sorts
-towel (optional, air dry?)
-$3 dollars for park entry fee
What I need:
-positive attitude
-Drivers–everyone will be waitlisted until I can coordinate drivers
