Jonesing for a Cabin Excursion? (Beginning Backpacking*)

OVERVIEW

CALLING ALL CABIN CREATURES TO JONES MOUNTAIN. What better way to spend one of the last couple days of summer (technically) inside but outside! A cabin in the woods, the perfect rustic introduction to our beautiful blue ridge mountains. We will hike 3.8 miles to Jones Mountain Cabin, situated close to the Staunton River and the Bear Church Rock. This cabin is owned and taken care of by the PATC (Potomac Appalachian Trail Club), but originally it belonged to a moonshiner (OoOoo). The PATC also maintains our section of the AT. Shoutout! The night will most likely include a sunset hike. The next day we’ll spend some time romping in the forest and splashing in the creek, but heading out with enough time to make it back for the football game if that’s your jam. This is a great little foray into backpacking and if you’ve never gone before Sophia and I are available to answer any questions. Make sure to get your gear at a gear room this week!
