July 4th Road Ride: Tour De Tj

OVERVIEW

Join me on a patriotic, 4th of July, ride as we celebrate our nation’s independence! We’ll pay homage to the principal author of the Declaration of Independence by cycling past 3 local Thomas Jefferson (affectionately termed “TJ” for the rest of the trip description) points of interest: Monticello, the Rotunda, and Shadwell, TJ’s birth-town. Ooooh, and as a bonus we’ll twice go past home of TJ’s good-time buddy and fellow former American prez, James Monroe. These are all on a wonderful ~30 mile loop from my home. I expect the ride to take 2-3 hours, depending on the ability of the group and the number of stops.

If you have a bike but cannot transport it you are welcome to meet me in C’ville for a portion of the ride.

You must have some experience biking on the road and be in good shape to go on this adventure.

Please arrive with appropriate clothes for biking in the VA summer and be well fed and hydrated with plenty of extra water, snacks, tubes, pump, a bike (preferably road), sunscreen, and you might want to pack a lunch for after.
