Kayaking Downtown Richmond

OVERVIEW

The rains last week are still flowing out through richmond, tomorrow will be around 7 feet. This is a great level for playboating big waves on the downtown run. If you are crazy enough to go kayaking big water in december , you should have all your own gear including the 5 essentials plus a drytop, pogies or gloves, and a skull cap or balaclava. It’ll be 63 air but the water will be mid 30s. This is not a trip for sometimes rollers, the water will be fast and high and freezing cold. Having said that, big glassy waves will be everywhere, and some big holes if you are feeling lucky and/or good. Lets go play! I have to be back in town by 3, there will really only be time for driving and boating, so come with your breakfast/lunch packed and a liter of water.

Meet promptly at the BP Gas Station on fontaine avenue at 9:00 am, depending on numbers and inclinations we can either park and play or I’ll set a bike shuttle.
