LDOC Stargazing

OVERVIEW

Come celebrate the last day of classes (and International Dark Sky Week) by lying on your back in a field on top of a mountain. What could be better?? We’ll head up to the lovely, beautiful, life-changing, must-see Little Calf Mountain and Elli will give us a tour of the extra clear constellations with a green laser!? So cool.

The plan:
7:45 meet at the brick wall by Echols and load up
8:15 enter the park once it closes for the night
8:30 hike up
9-10: gaze
10:30 back at car
11:15 back at Echols

You bring:
headlamp/flashlight for hike up and back (headlamps can be found in the gear room if you don’t own one)
warm clothes and layers! it gets cold after sunset
water and a snack?
something to sit on?
a backpack to carry these wonderful things
eyeballs (do not store in backpack)

***there is a chance of rain tues, and if it is raining at night we will cancel/reschedule if we can pull it off

No drivers are needed, but if anybody has a park pass, that would give me peace of mind and prevent any possible delays in entering the park, so you’ll get priority off the waitlist!
