Learn to Top Rope, Do Crack, and Other Metaphysical Musings

OVERVIEW

This is a beginner-friendly rope climbing trip. No experience required but you should be willing to learn how to tie an eight knot, top rope belay, and exemplify chill crag vibes. Do not worry about Colin, he is stable. -Evan

Time to storm the crag with me, Colt Wench, and my assistant backstepper, Mr. Jank Flanks. We will be teaching you how to ascend upwards in space on the y axis via the utilization of a gri gri (belay) device. You will learn how to get hoisted and hoist your companions. Also whole lotta crack, yep that’s right we are doing crack. Climbing. Crack climbing and crack. Also we have trad gear (if you don’t know what that is don’t worry about it), we may utilize said trad gear and Mr. Jank Flanks will be taking his first trad fall for entertainment purposes for all to see (this mean he is going to put a piece of small metal in the wall and then proceed to fall on it and see if it holds). There are some harder routes we can set on top rope or if you are feeling OP and want to lead then by all means jesus take the wheel. Don’t worry we know what we are doing and you are in good hands otherwise they wouldn’t have approved this trip. Thanks Afton, I love you!

What to Bring:
Shoes, Harness, Helmet, Chalk*(GEAR ROOM) –Chalk optional will be cold but can still be nice. Also we can get you into the gear room just text me at 276-224-4208

Lunch and snacks (Eat some food its good for you)
Backpack to put you junk up in
Phone to send photo to your parents to show them the adventures of your college years

What we will bring:
Ropes
Trad Gear
Quads (TR Rigging Compound)
Out of Tune Singing
Chaos but still controlled safety while operating roped equipment and partaking in dangerous activity

Schedule:
Meet at 8 at Echols (like actually at 8 like we will be there at 8, I swear)
Drive 50 min
Hike 15 minutes to crag
Climb for the day until darkness strikes down upon us
Goof around for 2.5 hours
Walk back to car and drive home
Get back around 6-6:30
