OVERVIEW

HEY GUYS!

This is super last minute BUT the Antares rocket is launching off of Wallops Island at 4:01am (yes, AM) on Saturday (tomorrow, or later today depending on when you read this) and I want to try to catch it.

In case you aren’t aware of what this is, here’s the description from freakin’ NASA (!!): “Description: Northrop Grumman’s tenth contracted commercial resupply services mission, launching aboard an Antares rocket from Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, will deliver several tons of cargo including crew supplies and science experiments to the International Space Station.”

Basically, we’re watching a heckin’ big rocket deliver a heckin’ big load to what is a glorified mobile home in space. Get hype!!

Edit: SafeRide will be operating at this hour, so definitely utilize that if you don’t have someone to go with.

Here’s the plan:
~ 3:25: Meet up at the bus stop next to Kellog
~ 3:35: Start our ascent up Mount Kellog
~ 3:45: Reach our Vista from above the water treatment plant
~ 3:47: Try to get comfortable
~ 4:01: Admire the work of the one governmental organization most people like
~ 4:03: Stargaze a little bit and ponder the mysteries of the universe
~ 4:20: blaze it back down the hill because it’s cold

What to bring:
~ L A Y E R S – it will ~literally~ be freezing
~ A blanket – highly recommend because everything is better with blankets
~ A flashlight if you want to (your phone probably works)
~ Noms (optional)
~ Did I mention layers???
