Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Dear Hiker Trash and Future Hiker Trash,
I will be attending a long distance hiking workshop hosted for prospective Appalachian Trail Thru Hikers. Programs will be designed to get everyone ready for the 2017 hiking season. This would be a great opportunity for anyone considering a long distance hike or for someone who wants to improve their backpacking skills.
The Hostel is in Bluemont, VA which is about 2 hr 15 minutes away. I plan on camping because its cheaper. Like $15 a night i think. But if you want a bunk then you need to call ahead and try to reserve a space (540-554-8708). Club reimburses $10 for outside camping and $5 for indoors.
If you need warmer gear I can grab sleeping bags and pads for everyone.
We can do some hiking around the hostel.
Things you bring assuming you’re camping:
Tent
Sleeping Bag
Sleeping Pad
Warm layers
hiking shoes/boots
water bottle
optional:
Your backpacking setup to be “tuckerized” – i.e experienced thru hikers tell you what you don’t need. (and rarely what you do need)
We leave Friday the 27th at 3:45pm and return Sunday ~1pm.
There will be some food provided but we can figure that out later.
