Lovingston Spring Loop: Queer Backpacking!!!

OVERVIEW

Hey y’all! Need a break from schoolwork, want to hike around in the beautiful fall leaves with some awesome queer folks? That’s right, it’s another queer backpacking trip!!! This is gonna be an overnight backpacking trip, doin a little 10 mile loop on the AT and the Lovingston Spring Trail (we’ll prolly do 5 mi Friday night and 5 mi Saturday), specifically for queer & trans folks. I don’t expect it to be too difficult, I’ve done these trails before and, if I remember correctly, the terrain isn’t bad, but I do wanna make sure people are aware: We will be hiking in the dark on Friday night to get to where we’re setting up camp, so make sure u have a headlamp!
Here’s the plan:
Friday
3:30PM – Meet @ the corner of Echols (plz don’t b late)
5:00PM – Arrive at Salt Log Gap, start hiking 5 mi
7:30PM- Arrive at Seeley-Woodworth Shelter, set up camp for the night
Saturday
8:00AM (ish)- Leave camp, start hiking 5 mi back to cars
10:30AM (ish)- Arrive back at cars, start driving back to cville
noon ish- arrive back in cville

What to bring:
HEADLAMP
Dinner to eat in the car, unless u wanna have a really late dinner at camp
Food (enough for dinner, breakfast, and snacks)
Something to cook ur food with, if necessary
2L of water (We’ll have a couple of water filters in case anyone needs more water)
Sleeping bag
Sleeping pad
Any toiletries you might need
Some layers, it’s gonna be pretty chilly, I’d expect
A rain jacket
Hiking shoes
Backpacking backpack
Tent (we’ll set up camp at a shelter, so if you want to sleep in the shelter u might not need a tent but there are never guarantees that the shelter won’t be full)

Other PSAs:
-As mentioned in the description, this is an affinity trip, meant specifically for queer and/or trans folks! (So, respectfully, don’t sign up if u don’t consider yourself to be a part of those communities 🙂
-If you don’t have some of the gear that you might need, please please check out the hours for the gear room & get anything you might need before the trip!

DRIVERS NEEDED!
-Drivers need to show up to Echols with a full tank of gas!
-Drivers get priority off the waitlist. The club reimburses for gas +50% tip!
