OVERVIEW

Lets go to explore the Mammoth Cave!
It is the longest recorded cave system in the world with more than
360 miles. “After 4000 years of intermittent exploration, the full extent
of this water-formed labyrinth still remains a mystery.”
We will take the Wild Cave Tour with 5 1/2 miles caving distance and
which supposed to be 6-6 1/2 h long. We will free-climb cave walls,
lengthy crawl through areas as tight as 9 inches high, walk in a
crouched position, twist into and out of tight crawlway; generally, all
pleasures of natural caving but under a supervision of a professional
guide (I suppose). http://www.nps.gov/maca/Tours.html#Wild

Technical issues:
1. We need to reserve the tour in advance, since it allows not more than
14 visitors per tour (per day) [$46 is the tour fee] (there is a chance that on the assigned date it will be already
not enough sets on the tour)
2. It will be approximately 9h driving (one side)
3. This trip will have some extra expense (in addition to the tour fee),
which is difficult to estimate now

We will stay in one of the campgrounds in Mammoth Cave National Park.

The club provides:
a seat in a car,
partially reimburse the gas,
some meal for dinner, lunch and breakfast,
camping fee,
gear (tents, pads, sleeping bags etc. (if you need))

You are responsible for:
your clothes (“Work or climbing gloves and long pants are recommended –
do not overdress”), probably after caving you will be dirty, so you need
something for change,
Friday lunch,
some money for at least Sunday lunch,
if you have your own outdoor gear like tents, pads, sleeping bags, headlamps etc.
you are especially welcome 🙂
