Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Midterms break!!!!! Relax and take a hike up McAfee Knob. It is one of the most photographed spots on the AT (seriously, look it up) as it winds its way through Virginia. The trail is 8.3 miles with an elevation of 1,740 feet. If you’ve done Old Rag, stellar because you will like this hike similarly!!! Also, if you haven’t done Old Rag or other hikes, don’t worry because this will be a great time full of friendship, fun and laughter.
I plan to leave fairly early Saturday morning (7:00 am), since the drive there is about 1.5ish hours. PLEASE do not be late! Everyone will be waitlisted at first, until I see how many drivers we can get. Once we get there, we will hike at a fairly fast pace (ie. eat some food, be hydrated before we start) until we hit the peak (~11:00 or so). Bring yo’self some sammies, maybe a hammock or a ukulele or whatever you use to mellow out for lunch. Then we’ll make our way down and maybe stop somewhere to eat on the way back, depending on everyone’s schedules. Aiming to get back to grounds around 2:30 pm.
I am not a professional tour guide and this will be my first time actually hiking this particular trail, but we will bask in each other’s company nonetheless. Please email me with any additional questions at email@example.com
Things you will need:
