Monday Getaway: Old Rag Hike (Intermediate Pace)

OVERVIEW

DRIVER IS NEEDED!!!! YOU WILL BE REIMBURSED! PRIORITY GOES TO DRIVERS AND SNP PASSHOLDERS!!!

Do something you won’t regret and skip those boring Monday classes for a beautiful Monday at Old Rag! Old Rag is a 8 (closer to 10, if we consider the distance from parking to the trailhead) mile circuit hike, located in Shenandoah. It is roughly a 90 minute drive, 5-6 hour hike, and 90 minute drive back. We’ll leave from Echols at 6:45AM and return to Cville around 4PM. This trip is for up 5 people (including myself) if someone volunteers a car (since I don’t have one), and cost is $5/person unless we get someone w/ an SNP pass. I’d like to hike at a fairly fast pace so that we have time to rest for lunch and enjoy the view (:

What you will NEED:

2L water MINIMUM (more like 3 or 4)
Backpack for gear
Lunch/Snacks
Extra clothes (avoid cotton) to peel on/off as needed in case of rain or cold
Sturdy hiking shoes as there will be some minor rock scrambles
Any Medications
A chipper bright attitude

OPTIONAL:
Sunscreen
Camera
Sunglasses/Hat
Hiking Poles
Flashlight (Better safe than sorry)
Extra corrective lenses
Climbing gloves for the rock scramble (you’ll be fine without them though)
