Mountain Biking – Douthat State Park

OVERVIEW

A couple years ago Blue Ridge Outdoors sited Douthat State Park as “the best mountain bike location in Virginia”, and ever since I read that I’ve wanted to go. (I don’t know why I’ve never been :0 ) I don’t know much about the trails other than what I’ve read, so if you’d like to do some exploring with me and you don’t have a bike/helmet, please sign up. If you want to ride and have a bike and can transport it, no need to sign up, just drop me a line that you wanna go. From the description it sounds like there is a lot of climbing, some technical river crossings, fantastic views, and a long downhill. I don’t know that total distance, but figure this ride will be long, and moderate to strenuous, so please DO NOT sign up unless you have some trail riding experience and are in decent shape. The pace will be at a nice, take-in’-it-easy speed.

UVA Outdoos provides:
Bike, helmet, ride (Douthat is ~1.5 hours drive)

You should bring:
Lots O’ Water! Snacks. $$ for food after. Athletic wear for riding – please wear bright clothing if possible, as hunters may be out! cloths to change into after.
