OVERVIEW

Meru looks like a dope film that just came out! It tells the story of Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, and Renan Ozturk making the first ascent of the Shark’s Fin on Mount Meru in the Himalayas. It’s one of the first climbing films to be released to mainstream audiences across the country. This is largely because it’s not just a film about three dudes storming up a mountain despite incredible odds, but rather it uses the story as a backdrop for a discussion about risk taking in the climbing community and in a broader context. Below is a link to the film’s trailer and webpage.

The plan is to leave from Bonnycastle Circle (near old dorms) on Friday at 4pm and get to Fairfax a little after 6pm. We’ll grab dinner and head to the theater for the 7:15 screening. After the film is over, we’ll head back to C’ville and get in around 11pm.

Please join the adventure as soon as possible so I can reserve enough seats together. Also, please have $13 dollars in cash to pay me back for the tickets.
