Mtb Vaycay in Asheville

OVERVIEW

We will be heading to Asheville, NC this weekend. Asheville is nearly completely surrounded by national forest, so there is a plethora of things to do in the area. It’s approximately a 5 hr drive from Charlottesville.

da Plan:
We’ll be leaving early Friday morning to drive to NC and biking friday afternoon in Pigsah national forest. It’s a 9.5 mile loop https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/777151/kitsuma.
There is potential for climbing on saturday but it depends on the number of people who sign up and ability. Otherwise we will bike at Dupont state park.
We’ll be staying Friday and Saturday nights at the curtis creek campground in Pigsah. The cost is covered by ODC’s reimbursement policy for lodging woooooo.
Drive back sunday and stopping somewhere to bike/ hike/ climb tbd.

FOOD:
We will be doing communal food and snacks. Part of the trip fee is for food.

GAS:
The club covers up to $150 for gas. The rest of the trip fee is to cover any extra gas expenses. I can fit 2-3 other people, so looking for other drivers. An adorable dog will be in attendance.

GEAR:

-harness
-chalk bag
-belay device
Mountain bike &helmet

If you need to borrow club gear email the officer listserv outdoors-officers@virginia.edu by wednesday with your general availability to arrange a time to get into the gear room.

Everyone who signs up will be waitlisted initially and be let off based on car space.
