My 100th Adventure! Humpback Rocks Sunrise (Beginner Hiking)

OVERVIEW

Hey y’all! After a little under 5 semesters, I’m super stoked to share my 100th trip in this beautiful club with you! I figured we’d do a sunrise Humpback hike because it’s iconic and somehow I haven’t done sunrise here yet or lead a humpback trip in general. This trip is open to everyone but those who can drive some more people (more about that below) or those who have never been on a trip before (cause what a great full-circle moment) will get priority off the waitlist.

Humpback Rocks is a 1 mile out and back hike with about 700ft of elevation gain. It’s somewhat strenuous but is super popular and is regularly completed by people of all fitness/ability levels, making it worthy of the beginner label. We’ll have about an hour to complete it so it’ll be a very friendly pace as well. We will be starting this hike in the dark but the trail is super straightforward and we will bring flashlights/headlamps to light our way.

The Timeline
5:15 – meet at the corner of echols, leave for humpback!
5:45 – arrive, start hiking!
6:45-7 – summit just in time for sunrise!
7:30 (at latest) – leave the summit
8:30 – back to the cars
9:15 – back on grounds for your morning class!
We can speed this up if lots of ppl have 9ams, just lmk in the questions!

To Bring
– shoes you feel comfortable being active in/with good traction
– dress for the weather! it will be chilllly. warm base layers with a windbreaking outer shell are recommended
– a filled water bottle
– snackies for sunrise
– ***A flashlight/headlamp/light source!*** preferably not your phone, you can get this from the gear room. times are posted in the gear tab of the website or on the weekly emails (which can be found under the announcements tab)
– stoke for the sun!

Drivers will get priority off the waitlist as I can only carry 4 ppl and am hoping to grab 5 more. Divers can get their gas reimbursed with a 50% tip up to $20!
