New Moon, Who Dis? Pt. 2

OVERVIEW

I know what you are thinking; this trip is a month away, why are you putting in up so soon? There are two reasons. The first is that I am salty at myself for missing star gazing during the new moon that just happened. The second is that I am old now (in grad school) so my schedule is much less flexible than it used to be and I have to plan things ahead of time.

Trust me the wait will be well worth it. We will hike to Blackrock Summit which is a wonderful large pile of rocks on top of a mountain in Shenandoah National Park. It is a very easy hike so this trip is beginner friendly. There will be lotz of stars, hopefully good conversations, and music if we are feeling it.

The Plan:
-8:00 pm Leave from the SAB parking lot (so be there a couple minutes early)
-9:00 pm Arrive at Blackrock parking lot and begin hiking
-9:15 pm Arrive at Blackrock summit at watch them gaze those dang stars
~11:00 pm Head back to the car
~11:15 pm Head back to cville
~12:15 pm Arrive back at SAB
The timing on when we get back is pretty flexible so if everyone is vibin’ we can stay later. Also, if more drivers sign up we will have more flexibility if some people want to stay later and others don’t.

What to Bring:
-Water
-Snackz
-Hiking Shoes
-Lots of Layers (It will be chilly)
-Maybe a sleeping bag to lay in if you tend to get really cold
-Headlamp: you are responsible for having one or getting one at a gear room

DRIVERS NEEDED!
-Drivers need to show up to Echols with a full tank of gas!
-Drivers get priority off the waitlist. The club reimburses for gas +50% tip!
