NEW RIVER GORGE CLIMBY

OVERVIEW

Let’s go to the New River Gorge! Who wants to do some climbing outside!!!! I’m hoping to leave at 3 pm on Friday and drive to the New. Depending on how we feel we can just go to the AAC or make some plans for Friday night. We will climb all day Saturday, go back to the AAC, and sleep. Sunday we’ll climb till we decide to drive back to Charlottesville (be back at 6ish pm). We will be camping at the American Alpine Club Campground, there are outhouses but no running water right now since it’s the off-season. The rate is 5$ a night per person and they have a Venmo code at the pavilion to pay, but with the club reimbursement, it won’t cost us anything. To go on the trip you should have intermediate top rope experience outside, and be able to climb 5.7 and above. Preference will be given to those that can lead climb/lead belay. Thinking of hitting up Bubba City and 2 bridge buttresses for crags.
Depending on everyone’s availability, we could have one car leave Thursday and also climb on Friday too. but we can see how it goes.

Preference for drivers
You bring:
– harness
– helmet
– climbing shoes
– belay device
– sleeping bag
– sleeping pad
– weather-appropriate clothing (I have no clue what it will be yet)
– water!
– some money (LETS GO TO TUDORS for BISCUITSSSSS)
– brekky, lunch (x2), dinner (x2) snacks
– bowls and utensils

I bring:
– ropes
– quickdraws
– anchor materials
– 2/3/4 tents ? TBD on numbers
– stove and gas
