You must have taken Dave Clark’s or someone else’s intro to whitewater kayaking class or have equivalent experience, you must have somewhat of a combat roll, have paddled and felt comfortable on class III whitewater.

Everyone gets wait-listed until I screen your skills.

TIMES/PLAN/LEGAL:

My personal intentions:

Friday: Meet at Echols at 3:30pm get on the road by 4 pm. Drive to Ray’s, set up camp, chill out, relax, eat, bon-fire.

Saturday: Breakfast, set shuttle, put-on around 12 noon, have a blast paddling, spend most of the day on the river.

Sunday: Breakfast, set shuttle, put-on around 11am, run the river, hopefully off by 3ish and get on the road, eat somewhere on the way home.

CAMPING: Ray’s campground $9.00 per night

RAFTING:
There’s commercial rafting trips available on the New River Gorge, you can inquire about those here:

FOOD:
The Club’s summer allotment no longer covers food or camping during summer trips, so please bring food and or extra $$$ to cover these expenses.

Club Provides:
Boats & Gear, YOU are responsible for bringing all necessary paddling and camping gear for this trip. Please let me know what you need and I will try to assist you.
You should bring: several warm non-cotton layers, river snacks, water, change of clothing, towel, dry clothes, sunscreen.

TRANSPORTATION: My little car can carry: Four boats, paddling gear, camping gear and two people total, at least one other driver will be needed for shuttle. (Club summer allotment for gas is $150.00 max.)
