NOT gettin’ pickled (triple crown)

OVERVIEW

Last year Taylor posted a gettin’ pickled Appalachian Trail trip that I was DEVASTATED to not go on… so here’s a non-cabin version of that trip 🙂 We know it’s finals season…which means we need a break. Me and Shihe want to camp near the Triple Crown loop on the Appalachian trail, where we will aim to do two day hikes. Our options for hikes include McAfee’s Knob, Dragon’s tooth and Tinker cliffs, just minutes away from the campsite by car. **We will determine exact timing based on peoples’ preferred leaving times for Friday. We could do a shorter Friday hike with a later leaving time, getting back earlier Saturday, or vis versa.**

Our plan
Friday Dec 8:
Drive ~2 hours & hike Dragon’s Tooth (2-3 hours). Come back, have dinner (grill?) get cozy, cards/stargazing?
Saturday:
Another day hike: Mcafee (4 hours)? Then drive 2 hours back to cville

YOU BRING:
– Dinner * 1 (communal grilled dinner possibly?)
– Breakfast * 1
– Lunch * 2
– Water and snacks for hiking
– Sleeping system: sleeping bag, liner, pad, could also bring blanket/pillow
– Layers —> NO COTTON. Gloves, hat, WOOL SOCKS, base layers to sleep in, etc
– Rain jacket in case of showers
– Hiking footwear
– Headlamp
– Some toilet paper if you want it
– Toiletries
– Optional trekking poles
– Any source of entertainment or other random things you want for the trip
– ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT AND AN APPRECIATION FOR WOODS

We BRING:
Tents
stoves/fuel
first aid kit
water filtration in case (there’s potable water at the campsite)
