OVERVIEW

what could be more PLEASANT than a lil friday night camping trip to cap off week 3? i’ve heard high remarks for the mount pleasant hike, so why not extend our stay & set up camp overnight? i’m envisioning a trip that goes from watching sunset to watching stars to watching sunrise to watching the football team win.

it’s a 5.5 mile loop featuring a saddle with 2 summits. it should take just under 2 hours to hike up and then we will set up camp on the westerly summit. the hike is rated as moderate & we will be breaking it up into 2 days, so it’s suitable for all levels. there is a small rock scramble for the westerly summit though! to read more about this hike visit: https://www.hikingupward.com/GWNF/MountPleasant/

the friday plan:
– 345 depart cville (be ready to go, we don’t wanna be setting up in the dark)
– 5ish trailhead
– 7ish summit + set up camp
– 730 sunset + dinner picnic (byo meal)
– night festivities (campfire? jam session? storytelling? star gazing? sleep!!!!)

the saturday plan
– early-ish: wakey wakey (eat bfast when u please)
– 6:50ish sunrise
– 730ish hike down
– 9ish hit the road
– 1030ish back in cville
– game day baby!!! #hoosdontlose

to bring:
– 3-4L+ water
– hiking shoes
– layered clothing (it’s a windy site so they say)
– rain layers + trash bags for rainproofing (just in case)
– dinner + snacks + breakfast
– headlamp
– backpacking backpack
– sleeping pad + bag
– personal hygiene ish
– musical instruments if applicable
– fire building skills (i have none)

gear:
you can find anything you could dream of for outdoor recreation in our gear room, so check your email (or the website) for gear room hours! ideally, everyone will grab their own gear & i’ll be responsible for group tents. (note: if you have a tent you’d like to bring, let me know!)
