Nrg Extravaganza – Hiking & Water Action Photo

OVERVIEW

This adventure is part of the “Outdoor Extravaganza at the New River Gorge” trip so you must be signed up for that adventure to go on this one.

I plan to hike into the NRG to take some whitewater action photos of our brave kayakers and rafters as they pass through the Lower Keeney rapid in the NRG. This is where the commercial photographers hang out and shoot pictures of everybody going by.

We will park somewhere legal near the trailhead for the Keeney Creek and hike down to the river. This trail is lightly used and may be partially overgrown, some bushwacking may be required. Down by the river there will be a lot of boulder scramberling to get into position to take photos. Depending on where we park and enter the trail, there may be a park entrance fee. Please bring some cash with you, the fee is more than $5 but less than $10. I have put a fee of $10 down, but hopefully we can get away without paying anything.

After a some time waiting, could be up to a couple of hours for our intriped adventures to arrive. We will take lots of photo of their passage through Lower Keeney rapid.

Lunch will be taken during the waiting period from the food provided by the club.

The hike back will be a lot harder as we will be climbing up out of the NRG, it will be uphill, all the way.

You should bring: hiking footwear, small backpack, lunch (provided by the club), plenty of water, sun block, insect repellant, rain gear just in case, camera if you have one and be prepared to have lots of fun
