Hiking (Day Hikes)
Ray's Campground (Hico, WV)
New River Gorge
This adventure is part of the “Outdoor Extravaganza at the New River Gorge” trip so you must be signed up for that adventure to go on this one.
On Sunday we will go hiking to take in the incredible views that the NRG has to offer. We will likely visit the Grandview and Long Point areas, but we may check out some other locations as well with the goal of finding the best views of the gorge, river, and bridges. Some of these will be near parking areas while others may be short to medium length hikes. I will shoot for the hiking to be “moderate” on the whole, probably several miles.
The end time is flexible based on whether people are sticking around or heading home.
Club provides: rides, gas money for drivers, and food for lunch
You should bring: hiking footwear, comfortable hiking clothing, small backpack, lunch (provided by the club), plenty of water (at least 2-3L), sun block, insect repellent, rain gear just in case, camera if you have one and be prepared to have lots of fun.
