We’ll leave NRGE basecamp at 11am on Saturday and drive to the Glade Creek trailhead. (I plan on driving to the New early Saturday morning, so can take a few hikers if you are not currently signed up for the general carpool that will depart on Friday). The Glade Creek hike is a moderate 5.6 mile hike abundant with cascades/small waterfalls and should take us approximately 3 hours to complete. From there we will drive to the Grandview Rim trailhead and begin our hike at about 4pm. This moderate hike is a 3.2 mile circuit with some of the best views of the Gorge, and should take us about 2 hours to complete. From there we’ll head back to NRGE basecamp around 6pm.

Sunday morning, we’ll leave basecamp at roughly the same time and drive to the Endless Wall trailhead. The Endless Wall trailhead is a 2.4 mile hike that should take us approximately an hour (or longer depending upon how long we take at the scenic vistas!). We’ll return to the NRGE basecamp early afternoon, pack up our things, and head back to CVille.

What to bring:
– Plenty of water (2L+)
– A plethora of snacks for the weekend
– Money for food (a group meal can be arranged)
– Sturdy shoes
– Headlamp/flashlight
– Camping gear: tent, sleeping bag/pad
– Rain gear/extra warm layers

I strongly encourage everyone in the club to try to get on a NRGE trip or to lead one of their own. Some of my fondest UVa memories are from this weekend – it’s truly an amazing experience!
