OVERVIEW

The New River Gorge! Intermediate Whitewater Kayak Trip.
This trip falls in relation with the NRG Extravaganza, all fees, rules, and regulations apply.

IMPORTANT!
**PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY**
You must have paddled Class III Whitewater. Preferably you have executed a few combat rolls on a class III river.
Examples: The lower Youghiogheny, Lower Maury or similar experience, and the NRG will be a step-up!

DISCLAIMER:
I am NOT “leading” on this river, I am only coordinating some logistics and transportation to the rivers. GENERAL ITINERARY:

Leave Friday morning, Eat somewhere on the way to Ray’s, set up camp, chill out, relax, bon-fire.
Saturday: Eat Breakfast, get ready to paddle, gear up, load boats, pack a lunch, Leave to set shuttle hopefully by 10am (drop cars at take-out, drive to put-in). We’ll put-in at Cunard and get out at Fayette Station. We will be on the river approximately 3/4 hours.
FYI: If the opportunity is available, we may try to set shuttle on Friday evening. Making life easier for Saturday.

FOOD:
I’m cooking pancakes for breakfast Saturday morning, all are welcome **while supply’s last** if you want anything other than pancakes please bring it! Saturday after paddling I’m going to join fellow kayakers at Pies & Pints for dinner, (Yummy!) bring extra $$$ for this & Please join us.

CAMPING:
We’ll be staying at Ray’s Campground: http://www.rayscampground.com/

There is plenty of space, bathrooms/showers, firewood to purchase, and good people. For directions you can follow the link above or the “adventure destination” link posted with this adventure.

The club will cover part of your camp fee ($9.00 per person per night)

FEES:
There is no extra fee for this trip however; NRG Extravaganza standard base camp fees apply:

$20 as a base trip fee to make sure everything gets covered (you may have additional fees depending on the potential separate adventure you might choose; this is the same $20 set in the “Base Camp” adventure, NOT in addition to). Your trip fee goes toward lodging fees, food, ga$, and camping gear rental.

DEPARTURE TIME:
For now I am setting Friday 9am as a tentative departure time from Echols. My plans are to take Friday off from work and head out to Ray’s Thursday night or early Friday. We will need at least one extra driver to make this work. The departure time may change as the date draws near. I will let you know in advance of the trip.

THE CLUB PROVIDES: boats, spray skirts, paddles, pfds, helmets, noseplugs, (limited quantities), neoprene booties, paddle jackets (limited sizes/quantities), camping gear (limited), part of camping fee, some food, some ga$.

YOU SHOULD BRING: swimwear, foot wear (neoprene booties), towel, sunblock, Food: River snacks, granola bars, water, (Gatorade) your boat and gear if you have it. Non cotton layers, dry clothes for off the river.

Note***
1. If you need kayaking gear please notify me asap exactly what gear you need. Please include waist size for spray skirt, and shoe size for booties. I will do my best in assisting you to obtain the proper gear and boat.

2. If you are already attending the NRG Extravaganza you should have already made arraignments for camping gear, if not: The camping gear is at the gear room on campus (echols), you will be responsible to check out camping gear. Tent, sleeping bag etc.
