NRGE: Cranberry Glades Day Hike

OVERVIEW

The travelers did embark on a Friday before noon; they were Cranberry bound. Theirs was a destination that was entirely unique, a Glade among forests, a relic of older times.

Oh, sphagnum, grant unto them thy mossy scent! The travelers four disembarked unto the sweet-cold air of mountain afternoon. Oh, peat, impress upon their feet thine softness! The travelers did hike until evening. Following faithfully the aethereal songs of that pine-fowl, the spotted wood thrush – they beheld mushrooms in shadow – and with mortified fascination, they bore witness unto that floral glutton, the sundew plant. Shew mercy, Father Time, and slow thy wheel! In rapturous hikes as these, the day never lasts long enough.

As heaven’s-candle did sink low towards the Earth, the travelers did return to their vehicle. Hearts on fire, minds inspired, feet tired, they did as required: they traveled onwards, to NRGE.

Hey folks! In more-utilitarian language, I’m leaving for NRGE early so we can do a quick hike at the Cranberry Glades! Though this will extend the drive by a little bit, it’s well-worth the visit. We’ll hike for several hours at a very relaxed pace, with the primary goal of appreciating the landscape.

Pls Bring:
– Appropriate clothing for kind-of-chilly air
– Water and snacks for several hours of hiking
– Optional: Binoculars, field guides
