Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
New River Gorge
Sup dirtbags,
My NRGE goal is to be the first to arrive and the last to leave. To accomplish this lofty objective I plan to leave Cville on Thursday afternoon. This gets us three full days of climbing in the beautiful new.
If you have never climbed before go ahead and sign up! I can teach the basics as we go! We will base our climbing destination, difficulty and style based on the experience of whoever attends.
Things you bring:
Climbing shoes
Chalk bag
Harness
Helmet
Headlight
A shelter (tent/hammock)
sleeping bag and mat
food
water (We can refill at the campsite)
sturdy shoes such as chacos
optional:
towel (campsite has a shower)
camera
sunscreen/bug spray
clothing
I bring:
A two burner stove and propane (we can all use)
Pot(s)
Quick draws/alpine draws
First aid kit
ATCs and GriGris
Dynamic/Static Ropes
Trad Rack (maybe)
crash pads
Climbing is a serious and potentially dangerous sport. I reserve the right to verbally warn or “ground” you for behavior I think is unsafe. I’ll go over this before we get to the crag but examples include:
Using improper belay technique
“Free Soloing” or climbing without a rope or crash pad
Not wearing a helmet in the drop zone
Once I let you off the waitlist for this trip sign up for the NRGE carpool! This is where you will coordinate your return ride to cville. Text or email me if you have questions.
Let’s get out there and send it!
