OVERVIEW

This is the other Beginner/intermediate half of Kit Guncheon’s NRGE Shredfest 2.5. Kit and I will coordinate rides and bike transportation to Douthat, and will break off into our corresponding groups.

Expect singletrack that is flowy as artisan linguine and hills that keep you in your granny gears. The pace will be easy and no-drop, but be prepared physically for some topography. We’ll ride and explore for about 2 hours before packing up to head toward’s Ray’s Campground at the NRGE.
More info on Douthat mountain biking can be found here: http://www.mtbproject.com/trail/879616

Plan is to leave Cville around 2pm, arrive around 4 and bike until around 6, then head to Ray’s campground to rendezvous with the rest of the NRGE folk. We’ll probably just stop somewhere on the way for dinner, so bring some dinero. The $15 fee is just there to cover any food that need be purchased, be it fast food or grocery store food to cook at the campground.

Everyone will be wait listed until Kit and i figure out the details, especially regarding bikes and transportation.

ATTENTION! THIS IS ONLY FOR FRIDAY! YOU MUST FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO SATURDAY AND SUNDAY!

About the NRGE:

WHAT IS THE NEW RIVER GORGE EXTRAVAGANZA?

The New River Gorge Extravaganza (NRGE) is a choose-your-own-adventure megatrip that the club puts on in the fall to one of the best outdoor recreation destinations in the nation, perhaps world, and is only 3 hours from C’ville. The New River itself is 1 of 10 National Wild and Scenic Rivers in the US, and the gorge and surrounding area (including the Gauley River/Summersville area) hosts excellent white water kayaking for all levels, rafting, mountain and road biking, rock climbing, hiking/backpacking, and caving. Due to the outdoor rec opportunities and natural beauty, this area of West Virginia is also very popular for tourism. The club makes various trips to the NRG area each year but the goal of the extravaganza is to bring all of the club’s popular genres/activities and people together for 1 amazing weekend.

WHEN?

The weekend of 10/3-10/5. The departures will most likely be from Echols at various times on Friday, the 3rd. In their trip descriptions the trip leaders should indicate what day/time their adventure(s) will depart from the campsite. You might end up only doing one activity during the weekend, which will give you a day to explore or hang out at the campsite.

**I’ll probably be leaving relatively early on Sunday from the NRGE. You are not obliged to head home early with me if there are trips you want to do. If you switch cars to ride home with someone else, let me know**
