OVERVIEW

To conclude our fantastic weekend we’ll be headed out to the Endless Wall Trail! This cliffside trail leads to Diamond Point, which offers beautiful views of the gorge.

Sunday morning we’ll pack up camp around 9 and head out as soon as we can! Depending on how the group feels we can make it either a 2.5 or 5 mile hike. I’ve also made this adventure a 10:30am hike but we can push it earlier or later if people are interested.

You can find more information about our hike (#3) here:
http://www.nps.gov/neri/planyourvisit/fayetteville_trails.htm

The club food policy has changed so make sure to bring whatever food you’ll need for all of Sunday. I plan to drive back Sunday evening around 6pm.

Right now there’s room for 7 people on the trip because that’s as many as my car will hold. If you traveled to NRGE with a different driver please make a note of that in the comments section. After the hike we’ll be returning to camp if we need to coordinate rides back to UVA.

If another person signs up to drive then I’ll add more people to the adventure!

WHAT TO BRING:

Hiking boots or sturdy shoes
Water (2 Liters)
Warm clothes
Light snacks for the trail (granola bar, trail mix etc.)
Camping gear (sleeping bag, mat, etc.)
Lotsa food and food $
Sunscreen

About the NRGE:

WHAT IS THE NEW RIVER GORGE EXTRAVAGANZA?

The New River Gorge Extravaganza (NRGE) is a choose-your-own-adventure megatrip that the club puts on in the fall to one of the best outdoor recreation destinations in the nation, perhaps world, and is only 3 hours from C’ville. The New River itself is 1 of 10 National Wild and Scenic Rivers in the US, and the gorge and surrounding area (including the Gauley River/Summersville area) hosts excellent white water kayaking for all levels, rafting, mountain and road biking, rock climbing, hiking/backpacking, and caving. Due to the outdoor rec opportunities and natural beauty, this area of West Virginia is also very popular for tourism. The club makes various trips to the NRG area each year but the goal of the extravaganza is to bring all of the club’s popular genres/activities and people together for 1 amazing weekend.

WHEN?

The weekend of 10/3-10/5. The departures will most likely be from Echols at various times on Friday, the 3rd but this one will be early Saturday morning. In their trip descriptions the trip leaders should indicate what day/time their adventure(s) will depart from the campsite. You might end up only doing one activity during the weekend, which will give you a day to explore or hang out at the campsite.
