OVERVIEW

Shred babies,

I plan to do a beginner mountain biking + hiking combination trip on Saturday, leaving from Ray’s Campground at NRGE. The Arrowhead trail system is super beginner friendly and is a 20 minute drive from our campground, so we obviously must pay homage to the shred lords by riding them, or risk their wrath. Since beginner mountain bike trips don’t take too long, we’ll fill up the rest of the day with a little hiking, and stopping by somewhere to eat lunch between biking and hiking.

If you decide to back out of other trips to join this one and you’re a driver, please make sure this doesn’t mess with the other trip leaders’ plans first. Otherwise, totally come on this trip because it will be dope.

THE PLAN:
I plan on leaving around 8am on Saturday morning from Ray’s to drive to the trails. We’ll ride for around an hour or two and then eat lunch somewhere in town. After lunch, we’ll go hike for 3 or 4 miles somewhere around the gorge. I haven’t decided where yet, but the Grand View Rim trail sounds pretty dope. If you have any suggestions or preferences for hikes, let me know in the trip questionnaire!

Except for knowing how to ride a bike, no previous biking experience is necessary! The trails at Arrowhead are super flowy and beginner friendly.

If you don’t have your own mountain bike or helmet, let me know on the trip questionnaire and I’ll try to secure you a club bike/helmet. Everyone will be waitlisted for this trip initially and depending on club bike/driver availability, individuals will be taken off the waitlist accordingly. Drivers with (and without) bike racks get priority if many sign up (gas is reimbursed + tipped 50%!).

What to Bring:
– Pack to hold water/food/layers
– Mountain Bike (if you have it)
– Helmet (if you have it)
– 2 Liters of Water
– Plenty of snacks/food for the day, we’ll get lunch somewhere

Club Provides:
– Bikes (if needed)
– Helmets (if needed)

If you get off the waitlist for this trip, remember to sign up for the general carpool trip! If you have no idea what NRGE is, read the email Lily sent to the listserv titled “New River Gorge Extravaganza 2017!!!” or email the officers.

Questions? Text me at 571-340-0303, or email me at zaf2xk.

In conclusion,
Ride or Die
