Ray's Campground (Hico, WV)
Lovers of shred,
Even though I have a Quantum Physics midterm the day after this trip, one cannot simply ignore the call of the Arrowhead Trails. Ray’s Campground is literally a 20 minute drive from these trails, so we obviously must pay homage to the shred lords by riding them, or risk their wrath.
Since I need to get back to Cville as soon as possible on Sunday to cram the nature of reality at sub-atomic scales, I plan on leaving early (around 7 or 8am) on Sunday morning from Ray’s to drive to the trails. We’ll ride for around an hour or so and then head back to Cville from there. Estimated return time to Cville is 1-2pm.
Except for knowing how to ride a bike, no previous experience is necessary! The trails are super flowy and beginner friendly.
If you don’t have your own mountain bike or helmet, let me know on the trip questionnaire and I’ll try to secure you a club bike/helmet. Everyone will be waitlisted for this trip initially and depending on club bike/driver availability, individuals will be taken off the waitlist accordingly. Drivers with (and without) bike racks get priority if many sign up (gas is reimbursed!).
What to Bring:
– Pack to hold water
– Mountain Bike (if you have it)
– Helmet (if you have it)
– 1-2L of Water
– Snacks/Food for the drive back (we might stop somewhere on the way back)
– Bikes (if needed)
– Helmets (if needed)
If you get off the waitlist for this trip, remember to sign up for the general carpool trip! If you have no idea what NRGE is, read the email I sent to the listserv called “2016 New River Gorge Extravaganza Mega-Trip”
