Old Rag.

OVERVIEW

I am now a second year and have no Old Rag experience under my belt, something I am ashamed to admit, and consequently feel the need to change ASAP. I have never lead a trip nor have I ever hiked Old Rag so why not send it and do both for the first time this weekend! The plan is to meet at Echols at 7:30 and drive to the trailhead. We might not get back to grounds until 5 pm.

This hike is pretty strenuous. It is said to be physically challenging with steep elevation gains for long distances. It is 8.6 miles with some boulder scrambling near the top. It should take about 5-6 hours. I have no desire to break speed records on this hike so don’t expect to zoom up the mountain but we’re not gonna fart around and take longer than we need to. Every entry will be $5 unless someone has an SNP pass.

Things needed:
-2L of water
-SNACKSSS (we can stop for lunch at some point)
-Sturdy hiking shoes
-layers (maybe a rain jacket- hopefully wont rain)
-Good spirits!!
