Bonnycastle Circle
Old Rag
This is a gorgeous hike. I’m taking other officers’ word for that — I actually haven’t been on this particular hike! But it’s a club favorite and I’ve been disappointed not to go on some of our past trips there. It’s easy to medium difficulty, and the views are spectacular (there are lots of photos in our photo gallery for you to drool over). We’ll get there around noon, eat lunch, relax, and get back in the evening, so plan on not doing anything else the rest of the day. There are lots of boulders, so if you want to do some bouldering that’s fine, though you should know what you’re doing — I’m not a bouldering instructor.
You should bring the $5.00 entrance fee for the park, hiking boots, comfortable clothes, sunblock, a camera if you want, lunch for when we get to the top, a snack if you want, a liter or more of water, rain gear just in case, and something to keep you warm in case it’s cold. It will be cooler at the top.
We will leave ON TIME because this is a very popular hike, and if we don’t get there early, we might not find a place to park.
I need a couple of drivers, and the club will pay for your gas. If the trip fills, I’ll take you off the waitlist if I need you to help drive 🙂
