Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Old Rag
Aloha,
This Friday night (weather permitting), we are going to hike the beloved Old Rag mountain in the Shenandoah National Forest at sunset. Then we’ll camp out near the base of the mountain (You can camp below 2500 feet) and, if people want, we can hike AGAIN to see the sunrise in the morning!
For those of you who haven’t done Old Rag yet, it is one of the most popular hikes in the entire mid-Atlantic region. It is a moderately challenging circuit hike (about 5 hours round trip) with spectacular 360 panoramic view, the infamous rocky scramble and, if we’re lucky, the Old Rag dog. Read more and see some views at: http://www.hikingupward.com/SNP/OldRag/
I’ll set the trip to waitlist only until drivers sign up.
You bring: WARM layers, snacks, water, sleeping bag + headlamp + tent if you have it.
We provide: gas for cars, sleeping bags, headlamps, and tents for those who don’t have them, food for dinner and breakfast (exact amount to be determined).
Looking forward to some good exercise and some relaxation in the mountains!
P.S. We’ll get back in time for some delicious Pancakes for Parkinson’s
