OVERVIEW

Come to the Outer Banks and do some scuba, paddling, hiking, hanggliding, kiteboarding, or just enjoy the beach… and meet some new friends while you’re at it. Then eat dinner with us and sleep under the stars! There’s something for everyone!

——-Enjoy the beach!———-
We will be staying on the beach!

——–Scuba———
If you have your open water certification, then this is for you! The outer banks are known for how many boats have sunk there, which leads to great wreck diving! The visibility is said to be the best on the Atlantic coast! There will be a cost associated with this that will most likely be around $100. (+ rentals)

———Hiking —————-
The plethora of preserved land in the area means that there are a lot of hiking trails around.

——-SURF KAYAKING!——–
I can’t guarantee good waves, but we shall try. If you’re interested in surf kayaking, e-mail me (CaseT@virginia.edu) and we’ll talk details. Surf kayaking is using a kayak (usually a river whitewater one) to surf on ocean waves. Its very fun, provided good waves. Having a good roll is highly advised if you want to get the most out of the surfing.

There may be a cost associated with this if we decide to rent boats down there.

——-Kiteboarding, Hangliding, etc.————
There is great kiteboarding and hangliding in the area. If you want to go hanggliding, please email me if you are interested in organizing people to go hanggliding.

———-Other Notes————————
This should be a great trip, so come out and just enjoy yourself. There is a good possibility that you can leave for the Outer Banks later in the day on Friday, but it is dependant on whether someone on the trip with a car is leaving later. Also, these trips typically fill up and people start dropping, so if you’re on the waitlist — you’ll most likely get off of it!

Also, let me know if there’s anything in particular that you want to do and we’ll try and make it happen!

——–WHAT TO BRING———
Friday dinner, money for Sunday dinner, bathing suit, towel, sun tan lotion, credit card for anything that will cost money, bug spray, Frisbees, sand castle tools … anything you want to bring.

——–UVA Outdoors Provides——–
UVa Outdoors provides all meals on Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday, lodging fee, gas for cars, and if you need: sleeping bag and pad, tent, and a seat in a car.
