Bonnycastle Circle
Three Ridges
This is a beginner-friendly one-night backpacking trip to Three Ridges in the George Washington National Forest. This hike is supposed to have some fantastic views, so this is a good chance to catch the end of the fall colors! More information is available here: http://www.hikingupward.com/GWNF/ThreeRidges/. Right now the trip is set at 4 people because that’s how many I can fit in my car. I will let more people in as more drivers sign up.
Trip Itinerary:
Saturday: Leave Bonnycastle in the morning and hopefully be on the trail by 11. We will eat lunch on the trail. The hike the first day is 7.3 miles, so we should make it to camp before it gets dark and in time to get dinner started.
Sunday: 7.1 miles back to the cars, leaving us plenty of time to chill and take in the views. Should be back in Charlottesville around 6.
What you need:
Warm clothes! It is going to get pretty chilly at night, so bring lots of warm non-cotton layers, warm socks, a hat, and gloves.
