Rivanna River
It is time! The rivers aren’t up but spring is in the air. With its 3 class II and numerous class I rapids, the Rivanna is a great place to learn the basic maneuvers in white water kayaking and to get some river experience. I’ll be teaching such moves as eddying-in and out, ferrying, running rapids, and rolling to any crazy’s who like the feel of nice cold river water on their heads. The rest of your body will be protected by the club’s wetsuits and splash jackets. The run is ~ 4 miles and should take a couple hours.
DO NOT SIGN UP UNLESS YOU’VE TAKEN THE INTRO CLASS ON FLAT WATER WITH ME OR CASE OR HAVE SIMILAR EXPERIENCE!
The Club Provides: Boats, skirts, paddles, helmets, nose plugs, pfds, wetsuits, splash jackets and transportation.
You Should Bring: A layer or 2 of warm, non-cotton clothes to wear under the wetsuit (bathing suit, polypropylene, capilene, wool, fleece, pile, neoprene, silk all work great), warm clothes to change into after, water, snacks, towel, sunscreen (if its really nice)
