For this of you not afraid of heights consider the double whammy weekend: we’ll be driving down to Roanoke to do the 4.2 mile 1,500 gain hike to McAfee Knob. We figure after that 2 hour drive we should do more hiking while we’re out there, so we’re also going to hike either Dragon’s Tooth (4.1 miles, 1227 gain) or see waterfalls on Cascade Falls (3.8 miles, 725 gain). This choice will be made pending: a. The weather/overcast-ness b. How pretty the autumn leaves look/if all the trees are naked and c. A team vote.
Priority will be given TO DRIVERS, so sign up for that 1.5xGas/tip $$$! Also, priority given TO PHOTOGRAPHERS.
Plan on wearing hiking boots with ankle support, warm layers, and bringing water, snacks, and maybe a tripod/ND filters in case we do the waterfall hike. If you’re not a photographer, don’t worry, I’ll take pictures of you and we can try to sell them to REI to make $$$$$$$$$$$
