Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Byrom Forest Preserve Park
Come, my tan-faced children,
Follow well in order, get your weapons ready;
Have you your pistols, have you your sharp-edged axes? Pioneers! o pioneers!
For we cannot tarry here,
We must shred my darlings, we must forge the trail gnar,
We, the smelly dirtbag races, all the rest on us depend. Pioneers! O pioneers!
– Walt Whitman
This Saturday, the good people in Albemarle county have arranged a trail building day at Byrom Forest Preserve Park out in Crozet. Work will include shoveling, hacking, chopping, and other cathartic activities.
But Joe, you say, I like to party and I’m going to be hungover and tired on Saturday morning. What better way to work off a hangover than with the swing of a hoe or a shovel on a beautiful Autumn morning.
The scheduled time for the trip is 9am-noon. We’ll leave Cville around 8:30 to get there in time. We’ll be back to grounds by lunchtime. Since this is a service trip, a snack will be provided by the club.
What to bring:
Boots or sturdy shoes
Gloves (if you’ve got em)
Water (1-2L)
Favorite tool from home (if you’ve got one – the coordinators will also provide tools)
Club provides:
A ride
A Snack
I’ll move people off the waitlist as more drivers sign up. Remember, driver’s get off the waitlist, get gas reimbursed + a 10% tip!
