OVERVIEW

More mountain biking in PISGAH!!! WOOOOO!! This trip will be a half day on Sunday, and we will ride from camp, come back, pack our stuff up and head home.

THIS IS PART OF THE PISGAH MEGATRIP, PLEASE FILL OUT THE FOLLOWING FORM IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY: https://forms.gle/PQvfeKTkyh8c7swi9
ONCE YOU ARE LET OFF THE WAITLIST PLEASE JOIN THE CARPOOL TRIP: https://outdoorsatuva.org/adventure/pisgah-mega-trip-main-carpool/

The North Mills area of Pisgah is home to some sweet intermediate riding, with some more advanced trails for those who dare. Depending on the size of the group we might split up, but expect to ride 10-20 miles with 1500-2500 feet of elevation. The two loops I’m interested in doing are linked below.

https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/7065939/mills-river-spencer-fletcher
https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/7025326/spencer-gap-trace-ridge-loop
(plus a super duper secret bonus lap of an unmarked trail!!)

Once we finish the ride we will be driving back to cville and plan to get back around 7-8pm just in time for a Sunday night homework grind sesh. Keep in mind that unforeseen delays can happen on mountain bike trips, so I highly recommend against scheduling anything important Sunday evening.

You should bring:
– Phone with MTBProject downloaded, with the North Carolina region downloaded within the app
– Water: 2-3L capacity (we can put a bottle cage on each bike; let us know if you want this)
– Food: lunch, snacks (obviously all the other food you’ll need for the weekend, but you don’t have to bring it with you on this specific trip)
– Appropriate clothing and footwear: it can be cold this time of year, dress in layers suitable for riding — you should at minimum have a an extra layer with you in case we’re out past sunset, and also a jacket you can leave in the car
– gloves are recommended for keeping the fingers working in chilly temps and protecting your hands from scrapes if you fall – $10 Mechanix work gloves are great
– sunscreen?
– a bag to carry your water and food: the club has some daypacks and hip packs if you need one (let me know in the questionnaire)
– everything else you need for the weekend (again, you don’t need to bring it on this specific trip as we’ll be back in camp in the evening)

I’ll bring:
– Bikes/helmets
– Bike rack(s)
– Pumps, tools, etc
